 FAQ

1. Am I eligible to study in France?

In order to qualify for admission to any university in France, you need a high school diploma (or its equivalent) and two years of undergraduate courses. If you were able to complete a French baccalaureate earned in the United States, you need a “dossier bleu”. You can ask your embassy or your country’s department of education for more information.

2. Are there are any additional materials or documents I need to submit with my application?

Yes, but only if you are not a French or European citizen. You will need to get a pre admission document called the PAA, available at the website of the French government, and then fill it out. Write down your first two choices for universities (be sure to write them in order of preference). Submit with a copy of your diploma which has been notarized and translated into French by an authorized French office, your academic transcript for the last two years of study, a certificate of birth (also notarized and translated into French), and 3 international response coupons and 2 envelopes sized 10.5 x 24 cm, and a self-addressed envelope. Send these to the French consulate.

You will also need to take a French language skills exam to check how fluent you are with the language.

3. How do I appeal a rejection?

If, unfortunately, you were rejected by the universities indicated in your form, you can send a request for reconsideration to the Ministry of National Education. Provide a photocopied receipt from the time you filed your PAA, copies of the letters of rejection, and the photocopy of the translation of your diploma. However, your total scores must be greater than 10 out of 20.
